MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS

DEAN BANOWETZ

AKA, HOLLYWOOD HAIR GUY

Dean Banowetz, aka the Hollywood Hair Guy is a 7-time Emmy nominated stylist, 11-time Guild Member nominee with 4 Guild Award wins. On top of these accolades, Dean has authored the The Dean’s List of Daddy Do’s. As the department head behind several well-known shows such as, American Idol, So You
Think You Can Dance, World of Dance and America’s Got Talent; and on the teams of Legendary, The Voice and Shark Tank; it is no shock that the locks wizard has secured celebrity staples like Lionel Richie, Derek Hough, Leeza Gibbons, Simon Cowell, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson to name a few. After owning and operating a full-service salon in Bettendorf, IA, Dean made the big move to Los Angeles, where he landed a gig on the nationally syndicated series Extra.

Growing up on a farm in rural Iowa, Dean is the thirteenth of 15 children! Coming from a huge family, he is shameless in the self-promotion department – always starving for attention, of course. It’s also because he loves to give advice and make people feel good. To say his life has been a little quirky and a lot of crazy is understating it.
In Dean’s first career, he enlisted in the US Army where he earned Soldier of the Year in Fort Hood with the Second Armored Division. Dean received his first Army Achievement medal within the first 6 months of enlisting, then 3 more followed after. Another life highlight was creating wigs for regional dinner theatre shows across the Midwest and traveling to many US salons after being selected as a North American Educator for a major haircare manufacturer. So, when stepping into a class with Dean Banowetz, pay attention and buckle up. Be prepared for a mind-blowing session taking your technical skills, business skills and creativity to the next level.

Cory Rotenberg

Cory Rotenberg is a talented professional in the film and entertainment industry. After obtaining a degree in fashion merchandising and design and becoming certified as a professional makeup artist through Fred Segal Beauty, she pursued her passion at Paul Mitchell the School in Costa Mesa, Southern California. Excelling in all the programs Paul Mitchell had to offer, including Design Team and Phase Two, she crossed paths with Dean Banowtez, leading her to Hollywood to embark on her career.

Throughout her journey, Cory had the opportunity to work with renowned celebrities such as Judge Judy, Jojo Siwa, The Weeknd, and John Cena. She also had the privilege of contributing to various prestigious projects, including "Dancing with the Stars," "So You Think You Can Dance," "The Voice," "Shameless," "New Girl," "The Purge," "Hunger Games," and the ESPY Awards. Her work took her to glamorous locations like New York City, Paris, London, and Japan, and she collaborated with huge brands such as Old Navy, Playboy, and GXVE Beauty.

Cory's dedication to her craft earned her multiple Emmy nominations and a highly esteemed guild award. Continuously striving for improvement, Cory pursued further education throughout her career, obtaining multiple certificates from Vidal Sassoon Academy. While she still enjoys working on sets and behind the chair, Cory has now shifted her focus to educating and inspiring the future generation of hairdressers.
